Elo Farma Network, one of Portugal's largest pharmaceutical groups, faced a challenge as multiple associate pharmacies sought to venture into online sales. Existing e-commerce solutions did not comply with pharmaceutical regulations, and these pharmacies lacked the necessary funds and expertise in e-commerce operations, digital marketing, and conversion strategies.

The goal was to provide an affordable and compliant e-commerce solution for each pharmacy within the network. The task involved understanding the industry, including regulatory restrictions and requirements, customer demographics, the inner workings of a pharmacy, and competition. Our team proposed a SaaS platform where each pharmacy has a web and mobile app e-commerce, supporting individual branding, product catalogs, payment methods, shipping options, and customer support.

As a product manager, I led a 6-member team through the design, development, data entry, and third-party integration of the software as a service (SaaS) e-commerce platform. We ensured it was user-friendly and compliant with pharmaceutical regulations. The solution included a powerful promotions tool, a basic loyalty program, and a health tracker, blending direct discounts, promo codes, combos, giveaways, loyalty points, and conditional free shipping. Additionally, API integrations streamlined product creation, synchronized pricing and stock levels, generated invoices and shipping labels, and facilitated payments through multiple channels like credit cards, PayPal, MultiBanco, and MB Way.

The software successfully empowered Elo Farma Network's associate pharmacies to embark on online sales. The pharmacies could now operate within the confines of pharmaceutical regulations while enjoying the benefits of an affordable, user-friendly, and fully customizable solution. The API integrations streamlined various processes, from product management to payment acceptance, contributing to the project's overall success.
